The Press

Alessandro Montessori began a tradition that would continue throughout Maria Montessori’s life. On her 30th birthday (1900) he presented his daughter with an album in which he had collected many newspaper clippings reporting on her work as an advocate for women's rights, the rights of the "deficienti", the rights of criminalised youth. Years before she founded the first Casa dei Bambini, she had already made the headlines because of her vocal advocacy work.

In later years Montessori engaged a newspaper clipping service, which means today's archives hold a treasure of newspaper cuttings in many languages.
